Eighth Annual Take the Troops Fishing Event

If you count success by the number of smiles seen on troops faces, TTF 8 was a great day. The weather was a challenge again this year with 15 - 20 knot winds and high heat, but, as usual, captains adapted and did their best to find fish. Captains Greg Ogle, Joe Goldstein, Stan Jarusinski and Fred Jelinek provided boats for the troops while Anne Jelinek and Bill Raab provided excellent logistics and food service suppport on shore.
Major supporters of the event were Nancy Lee Fishing Charters in Swansboro, Bogue Inlet Fishing Pier and Dr. Ed and Mary Ann Watkins. Additional support was provided by Reel Outdoors of Emerald Isle and Osprey Oakes Marina.

While the normal flounder, Spanish, blues and bottom fish were caught, there were a few oddities brought to the boats. This is an Atlantic needlefish.
